The Story of Three Sisters

Every child deserves love, safety, and a chance to grow. This is the story of three young sisters.

The sisters were 12, 9, and 3 years old. Their mother had left the family, and their father worked as a daily wage laborer. He used to leave home early in the morning and return late at night. As a result, the children stayed home alone for most of the days. The eldest sister, only 12 years old, had to care for her younger sisters, and only one sister could go to school as the other had to look after their youngest.

Their living conditions were heartbreaking. They had never received proper food, care, or supervision as all three girls were severely malnourished. The youngest child was in the most critical condition. At three years old, she could not stand, walk, speak, or eat on her own as she had suffered from seizures and weighed only 7 kilograms.

A concerned neighbor reported the situation to Godawari Municipality. The municipality first placed the children in a nutrition center for three months, but as the program ended, they came back home. Sadly, their condition became serious again within a few months. The neighbor once again complained to the municipality, which then asked Chora Chori Nepal to rescue and care for the girls.

When the sisters arrived at our shelter home, we immediately arranged medical checkups. The reports confirmed that all three children were severely malnourished, so we provided them with basic needs, nutritious food, medical treatment, and care.

Over the next two months, the girls made wonderful progress. The two older sisters enrolled at Kitini School and started attending classes. The youngest began to improve slowly. Her health became better, and she showed positive signs of development.

Later, based on the recommendation of Godawari Municipality, the sisters were referred to another child care home for long-term support. Today, they are safe, healthy, and going to school. We often go and visit them, and they seem to be enjoying their new home and friends.

Their story shows that help at the right time can truly change a child's life because every child deserves to be safe, healthy, and given the chance to build a bright future.
