A residential school in Panchthar, eastern Nepal, shelters 47 children referred by police or government sectors after facing difficult, often traumatic situations. Many are orphans, displaced, abandoned, or disabled. While the school provides shelter, food, and education, budget constraints leave them without proper beds, limited dishes, and inadequate nutrition. Since last year, Chora Chori Nepal (CCN) has supported the school by supplying education materials, food rations, clothing, sanitation supplies, and stationery to improve the children's well-being.
Children working in hazardous situations are often victims of various forms of abuse. Chora Chori Nepal (CCN) has been actively rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating these children with their families. For those in genuine need, we also provide ongoing community support. These children are typically rescued from sectors such as motor workshops, factories, hotels, and other labor-intensive environments.
CCN stands as a pillar of support for child victims of sexual abuse, extending legal aid, psychological counseling, shelter, and essential needs. To date, our efforts have reached 28 children, providing them with comprehensive assistance across all our services.
Since July 2023, CCN has been assisting children in the Bote community in Makwanpur, a marginalized indigeneous group. We aim to keep continuing these kids in school, by addressing the significant problem of dropouts in this area. We have committed to support 45 children from this community by covering their school fees, providing uniforms and school supplies, and offering extra classes to support their studies.
